Here are the 4 entryway ideas to completely transform your space.

We couldn’t wait to put our personal touch on our first home, but that definitely didn’t happen overnight. First-time homebuyers can relate. It takes a lot of time and money to furnish and decorate a home.

Since then, I have found that focusing your energy on one space at a time can help you feel like you’re actually making progress. Alleviate the overwhelm of it all by doing the areas where you spend the most time first.

The entryway is the defining feature of a split-level home and is seen from all areas, so we were really happy with the outcome when we finally got around to decorating that space. It turns out that a few simple steps you can take to improve your entryway.

The Best Entryway Ideas

1. Paint

The original builder’s-grade paint was a tan color in a flat finish. I wouldn’t recommend using flat paint in high traffic rooms unless you love looking at dirty walls.

We chose a fresh white paint in an eggshell finish. It really enhanced the light in the space and was much easier to keep clean. We also painted the interior of the front door grey. Have fun with this because painting your door is easy to do and simple to change later on.

2. Upgrade your light fixture.

If you ‘re not loving your current light fixture, sell it online and use that money to buy one that better reflects your style. Such a simple swap makes a huge design impact. I actually scored ours at a local discount store, but you can find a similar one here.

3. Create a feature wall.

Other than the tall ceilings, there really wasn’t anything special going on in our small entryway. We were able to accentuate the height by adding a shiplap feature wall to draw the eye up.

Creating a feature wall adds visual appeal that really makes your home unique. You can cut costs and make a design statement by doing wood work or wallpaper on just one wall.

4. Hide clutter.

I am a huge fan of functional design. Homes are meant to be lived in and that comes with stuff. Stuff isn’t always pretty though. If you don’t have a mudroom, you may love this idea…

Hide the clutter of dog leashes, sunglasses, keys and such by sticking them in cute bag that you can hang by the door.

Those are just a few simple ideas to improve your entryway and make a great first impression for your home. I hope you love how your home greets you when you come and go each day!
