“That’s your TV?” is the question we’ve gotten when guests see our Samsung Frame TV hanging over our fireplace. At first glance, it looks like a piece of art!
This slender TV hangs flush to the wall. When installed properly, you can’t see the mount or any wires at all (more on that in a moment). The frame pieces come in a variety of wood tones and finishes that just clip right around the TV. Such a cool, modern detail.
When you turn the TV off, it switches to art mode. I love this part! You can select and display digital art or photography from your phone right to your TV. I have found myself wanting to keep the TV off, even more, just to enjoy the aesthetic of the art display.
Of course, when examined closely it is evident that this isn’t an actual art piece. There are a couple of ways to make it as believable as possible though (we’ll get to that too).
We were easily sold on the look of the frame TV and its art features but wondered about picture quality for regular TV. We decided to try it out anyway, and I am happy to report that we have no complaints! It has been great for normal viewing too.
Note: This post is not sponsored. We purchased the Frame TV and art ourselves. However, this post may contain some affiliate links.

How to mount the Frame TV-
Here is the thing about the Frame TV that makes it a little trickier to install than most other mounted TVs…
To make this whole thing look like real art, you’ll need to hide the TV’s media box and wires. And because this slim TV is meant to hang flush with the wall, you’ll have to create a space for those attachments to go.
We didn’t learn this fun little detail until after purchasing our TV, so allow me to warn you in advance š¤Ŗ it’s not that bad though, promise!
If you have surrounding built-ins or a TV console, you should have no problem easily concealing those additional pieces.
We ended up purchasing a media box container that would sit inside the wall behind the TV. Thankfully there was already an outlet there. So all we had to do was measure and cut a gap in between our studs. It all worked out just fine!
You can find the media box containerĀ we used / here /.
The slim-fit wall mount is included with the TV + frame bundle / here /.
For reference, our TV is 55″ with the modern beige bezel frame.

How to set up art on the Frame TV-
First, resize the photo you want to use to 3840 x 2160.
OR you can download digital art specifically for the Frame TV. Don’t bother with Samsung’s art subscription. There are so many beautiful choices on Esty for less than two dollars.
It’s nice to be able to change the art seasonally! You can explore my favorite shop or find our digital landscape painting / here /.
SetĀ up art on the Frame TV-
- Download the SmartThing App and connect your TV to the app (free app)
- Select āart modeā
- Upload your photo or digital art to the app
- Select appearance details (I prefer āno matā)
- Then hit āsetā
- see it show up on your TV!
You can also operate the TV from this app when you don’t feel like finding the remote š

How to make the art display look more realistic-
Always make sure the photo is properly sized. This will keep the image clear and not pixelated or blurry.
This smart TV changes brightness based on the amount of light in the room. The auto-adjust feature helps the art appear more realistic (rather than looking like a glowing photo).
However, if this feature isn’t giving you the desired look, just manually adjust the warmth and brightness based on your art selection.
Will the image burn into the screen over time? No, the TV is specifically designed so that the art image will not burn into the screen. Plus, it detects motion and goes into standby mode (completely black) when no one is in the room.
This TV is such a cool piece of technology. I love the blend of function and design.
It is on the pricier side though, so I recommend planning ahead and trying to get it during a sale. Amazon Prime Day is the best deal I’ve seen for this TV, but you can also price compare at other stores. Be sure to bundle the frame and mount for extra savings too!
