This post is all about laundry room makeovers.
Let’s be honest, the laundry room is an area of the home that is so easily forgotten when it comes to decorating. Odds are you get in and out of there as quickly as possible. Leaving the space sentenced to a boring life of mundane house chores.
Which is totally fine… unless you find yourself (here) wanting to have a little more fun than that. Find fresh design ideas from these laundry room makeovers that will actually make you want to do laundry!
Our environment really does impact our mood. This is one of the reasons that I love design so much.
And what I love about the laundry room, specifically, is that it’s just small enough where you can go a little bolder than usual with your design choices. Since it is not one of the central hang-out spaces of the home, you don’t have to worry about growing tired of it as quickly as you would in the living room or your bedroom.
Take some design risks. Give cabinets a fun pop of color. Bring unexpected interest to the room with cool wallpaper or unique tile. Rethink your laundry supplies storage with special containers. Get started with all the design inspiration you need from these laundry room makeovers!
Laundry Room Makeovers
Before and Afters
When we moved into our 1950’s rancher, the laundry room already had a fresh coat of paint and new floors. Which are good places to start, but the room was dull. And the wire shelving was grimy and needed to be upgraded.
Wallpaper and new wood shelving was just the fix this laundry room needed.
I was excited and nervous about doing the wallpaper. You hear horror stories of the challenges that come with wallpaper installation and removal.
That’s why I decided to use peel and stick Tempaper in our laundry room. It’s a ready-to-use, self-adhesive wallpaper. This means you can ditch the pastes or glues and it will still stay up as long (or little) as you like (which is nice because wallpaper is a big commitment)!
This type of removable wallpaper makes it easier to get your placement exactly how you want it, even if it takes a few tries. I don’t know about you, but I need that kind of grace in my DIY life.

Tip- If you are lacking storage space, order budget-friendly cabinetry from Ikea to custom fit your laundry room. Adding cabinets is a great way to enhance the value (and functionality) of your home.
You can level up your new or existing cabinets with dramatic paint colors. While you may hesitate to try certain colors in a kitchen, you can totally own them in the laundry room!
Tiling the wall of your laundry room is such an elegant trend. Here is a little trick for renters, you can get a similar look for a fraction of the cost and energy with peel and stick backsplash.

You don’t need to have a huge walk-in laundry room to deem the space worthy of design. A laundry closet, basement, or even garage can benefit from a small decorative touch that can bring you a little joy in the mundane.
P.S. Here is a bonus tip to help you keep a happy heart even in the smallest of tasks like doing the laundry. This time can be used in a powerful way of not only serving your family physically, but spiritually.
Pray for your husband and children as you fold each of their clothes. Thank God for those blessings. Ask Him to be your ultimate source of joy. Because He is worthy of all praise.
